TV Medical Anchor Pens Work of Fiction

reported by Robert C. James, FictionFanatic.com

For Asbury Williams, writing a book was just another feather in his cap. The Myrtle Beach native regularly hosted a Christian TV program for more than a year and a weekly live medical TV program for four years. Now, with My Visit with Jesus of Nazareth (paperback, $10.99, 1-60034-712-6), the former TV anchor delves into uncharted territory, the logical next step in his growing list of credentials.

In the novel, a prominent scientist with multiple degrees has concluded that Christianity is based on a myth--that Jesus is the Son of God. He is upset about money being spent uselessly on Christianity when it could be used to help mankind in more useful ways. Setting out to prove once and for all that Jesus was not divine, he mistakenly believes his findings will be an inspiration to all Christians.

The book, a work of fiction, is designed to stimulate thought and inspiration among Christians as well as those who have been exposed to Christianity but have not yet accepted Jesus as their Savior, says Williams. The erstwhile host says God placed the idea for the book in his mind four years ago, and he is confident the fictional events will inspire readers and allow them to experience happiness and inner peace.

Asbury H. Williams, M.D., is a Christian physician who is semi-retired. He attended Furman University and graduated with a BS degree. He met his wife, Peggy, at Furman, and they have been married for 47 years. He is also a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. The Williamses attend Timberlake Baptist Church, where they are ordained deacons, teach Sunday school, and sing in the choir. They make their home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
