Santa Claus dropped off Forbes.com?s 2006 ranking of fiction?s richest characters. Defense contractor Oliver ?Daddy? Warbucks is No. 1 on the list, with an estimated net worth of $36.2 billion.
New to the Fictional 15 ? our annual ranking of fiction?s very richest ? are Mr. Monopoly, Anthony Stark, Prince Abakaliki of Nigeria, Tony Montana and Mario. For the complete list, methodology, profiles and much more, visit www.forbes.com/fictional15. Here are the top five, ranked by net worth (in billions):
Oliver ?Daddy? Warbucks - $ 36.2 (Defense Industries)
Charles Montgomery Burns - $16.8 (Energy)
Scrooge McDuck - $10.9 (Mining, Treasure Hunting)
Richie Rich - $10.7 (Inheritance, Conglomerates)
Jed Clampett - $7.7 (Oil & Gas, Banking)
Why did Santa Claus drop off? According to Forbes.com he was excluded from this year?s rankings after being bombarded by letters from children insisting he?s real. Forbes.com took into account ?the physical evidence ? toys delivered, milk and cookies devoured? in removing him from consideration. Other drop-offs are Ebenezer Scrooge, Lex Luther, Cruella De Vil and Arthur Bach.
