Ever wondered what goes on inside the mind of a horror writer? Now?s your chance to find out. Dark fiction writer Mark Leslie is the second subject of The Writing Show?s new podcast-based reality show, ?Getting Published,? which debuted with novelist Jean Tennant on September 11th. Leslie?s series, which begins on October 9th, will follow the Ontario, Canada resident?s struggles as he attempts to complete and find an agent for his unpublished novel A Canadian Werewolf in New York.

Leslie, who has published short stories and edited an anthology, relishes the idea of exposing himself and his main character, who wakes up naked in Battery Park with a bullet in his leg and the taste of human blood in his mouth. ?I like the concept of the horror writer peeling back the skin,? he says.? I?m offering a look into my mind and my process. Letting people see my first draft is a pretty scary thing to do, but hey--I?m a horror writer. Fear is my business.?

Shows will be posted on a semi-regular schedule?whenever Leslie has something to report or listeners have offered feedback?but not less often than once a month. The first show runs about 50 minutes.

Writing Show producer and host Paula Berinstein (Paula B.), who has interviewed Wikipedia leader Jimmy Wales, the co-writer of ?Runaway Bride,? and more than a dozen horror writers came up with the concept in 2005 as she was planning her fledgling show. In July of this year, she put out a call for participants. Leslie and Tennant answered.

?No matter what I write, the supernatural always seems to creep in, whether I want it to or not,? says Leslie. ?Scary thing to expose now, isn't it??
