Biographer and novelist Jeffrey Marks has joined the staff of Mystery Scene Magazine in the role of Consulting Editor.
?Jeff has an extremely wide-ranging knowledge of the mystery genre and a lot of great ideas for developing the magazine,? said Mystery Scene?s editor Kate Stine. ?He?s going to add even more depth to our outstanding team of reviewers, writers and critics.?
Jeffrey Marks is the Edgar, Agatha, Anthony and Macavity nominated author of a series of biographies which include Who Was That Lady? Craig Rice: The Queen of Screwball Mystery and Atomic Renaissance: Women Mystery Writers of the 1940s and 1950s. He is currently working on a biography of Anthony Boucher and received the Helm Grant from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, to continue his research.
Marks? fiction includes a series featuring General Ulysses S. Grant in the post-Civil War era (The Ambush of My Name and The Good Soldier). The Scent of Murder is the first in a series set in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Marks is also the editor of four anthologies of mystery short stories.
In addition to his fiction and critical works, Marks is also the author of Intent to Sell: Marketing the Genre Novel, now in its second edition. He moderates a 1000+ member Internet group, Murder Must Advertise, which educates writers on genre novel marketing and public relations.
Jeffrey Marks lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, and teaches at the Campbell County Middle School in northern Kentucky. He has a BS in Systems Analysis from Miami University, an M.B.A. from Xavier University, and a Masters of Education from University of Cincinnati.
