Millions of votes were cast in the 11th Annual Moviefone Moviegoer Awards on Moviefone.com (http://www.moviefone.com) and moviegoers chose Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireDiscounted HARRY POTTER merchandise - DVDs, books and music. Click now! as Movie of the Year. Although each of the three previous Harry Potter films have been nominated for Movie of the Year, Goblet of Fire is the first in the series to nab the top prize.
Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon both received yet another trophy for their performances in the hit film Walk the Line as moviegoers declared them Actor and Actress of the Year, respectively. And the year's Sexiest Kiss? According to moviegoers, that honor goes to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
The win for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and other favorites such as Wedding Crashers (winner for Most Hysterical Performance and Hottest Rising Star) illustrates the difference between the tastes of moviegoers versus industry organizations and critics' groups, which have given little recognition to some of the most popular, top-grossing films of the year.
"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was a huge box office hit and really captured the imaginations of moviegoers around the world," said Erik Flannigan, Vice President, Entertainment Programming, AOL. "Giving movie fans the opportunity to honor movies and performances regardless of the reaction from critics and industry groups is exactly why we first created the Moviefone Moviegoer Awards. We congratulate all of this year's winners."
